About Me

Jeff CopeI am a longtime SolidWorks nerd and a sometimes .NET developer.  I am the founder and past president of the RTP SolidWorks User Group in Research Triangle Park, NC (founded in 2001).  I started using SolidWorks in 1998 at 3 Tex after using SolidEdge for a single co-op rotation at Volvo Construction Equipment up in Asheville, NC (One of the best cities on the planet).  Although I liked SolidEdge initially (it was better than Cadkey or Autocad), it was all over once I created my first sweep and circular pattern in SolidWorks.  I have been hooked ever since.

Currently, I am an Applications Engineer for TriMech Solutions, one of the larger SolidWorks Value Added Resellers in the US.  It is my job to learn as much about SolidWorks as I can.  How awesome is that?  I am a regular presenter at SolidWorks User Groups and at SolidWorks World.  Sometimes I pen an occasional article for ConnectPress’ SolidWorks Community, an online magazine about things SolidWorks-related.

Although I’m “aah-ight” at modeling in SolidWorks, this site focuses on automating SolidWorks products through their respective APIs.  That of course elimates CosmosWorks (where is the API guys, c’mon).  I mostly work with PDMWorks Enterprise and then SolidWorks with a smattering of other SolidWorks Products (PDMWorks Workgroup, Task Scheduler, etc…).  I write custom applications to automate those products for TriMech customers and I also have my own product, InspectionExpert™, that generates quality sampling sheets from SolidWorks drawings.
